Locations
A location is one of your offices: a name, a city, a time zone and a spot on the map. You manage your locations under Settings (the gear in the top bar) > Locations, at Locations.
1. What a location is for
Each dashboard shows one location, and several dashboards can share the same one. The location decides two things on the TV:
- The spot on the map decides the weather the TV shows.
- The time zone decides the clock, the date and what counts as "today", for example whose birthday it is.
Each location card shows how many dashboards use it, such as "Dashboards using it: 2". Your first location is created for you, so the list is never empty.
2. Add a location and pick its spot on the map
- Open Locations and press New location, beside the heading.
- Fill in a Name, for example "Amsterdam office".
- Type in Search for a town or city and pick your city from the matching places. The map moves there.
- Check the Time zone. It is picked for you from the place or the pin, and you can change it by hand.
- Fine-tune the spot: click the map or drag the pin. Use Zoom in and Zoom out to get closer.
- Press Add location, or Cancel to close the window without saving.
If the map does not show, enter the city; OfficeDash finds the spot for you.
Your plan sets how many locations you can have. At the limit, the New location button is off and the page says so.
You can also make a new location while you set up a dashboard: choose New location in the Location menu of the dashboard form. See Dashboards and the slide editor.
3. Edit a location
- Press Edit on the location's card.
- Change the fields you need, or move the pin on the map.
- Press Save changes, or Cancel to keep things as they were.
Every dashboard that uses the location picks up the change.
4. Remove a location
- Press Delete on the location's card.
- Confirm with Yes, delete. This can't be undone.
A location that dashboards still use cannot be deleted. OfficeDash then names those dashboards: move them to another location on Dashboards first, then delete the location.
The New location, Edit and Delete buttons only show when your account lets you change dashboards. The account holder can always do all three; otherwise, ask them.
