Dashboards and the slide editor

A dashboard is what a TV shows: a set of slides that take turns on the screen. Each slide has a layout, and each spot in the layout holds one widget, such as the clock, the weather or who is in the office. You build all of this in the slide editor.

1. Create a dashboard and choose its location

  1. Open Dashboards in OfficeDash.
  2. In the form New dashboard, fill in the Name.
  3. Pick a Location. The location sets the city, time zone and weather the dashboard uses.
  4. Press Add dashboard.

Need an office that is not in the list? Choose New location in the same menu, or add and change locations under Settings. If your plan allows no more locations, the option says so.

2. Add a slide

  1. On the dashboards page, open your dashboard and press Edit. The editor shows the slides in a list on the side and the selected slide in the middle.
  2. Press Add slide.
  3. Give the slide a Name and choose a layout. The new slide goes last.

If a dashboard already has as many slides as your plan allows, the button is disabled.

3. Duplicate, reorder and remove slides

Next to each slide in the list is a small menu. Open it and choose:

  • Duplicate to make a copy with the same layout and widgets.
  • Move up or Move down to change the order.
  • Remove to delete the slide.

You can also drag a slide by its handle on the left. With the keyboard, press Space on the handle, move the slide with the up and down arrow keys, then press Space to drop it or Escape to cancel.

A small icon next to a slide shows whether it is Shown on the TV or Hidden from the TV. Hidden slides stay in the editor but are skipped during the rotation.

4. Pick a layout

Select a slide and open Layout in the top bar. Choose how many spots the slide has and how big they are, for example Two columns, Three columns or One large widget. Widgets you already placed stay where they fit. Some layouts are only available on a higher plan, and the menu marks them.

5. Place widgets

Each spot in the layout is a button.

  1. Press Add widget on an empty spot.
  2. In the window Add a widget, pick the widget you want. Some need a connection first, for example to your HR system.
  3. To change a spot later, press Change widget on it.

A widget in a spot also has these actions:

  • Move to put it in another spot. On a filled spot the two widgets swap.
  • Settings to change what it shows, such as a title or a city. Saved settings show on the slide right away.
  • Remove widget to empty the spot.

6. Background image and blur

  1. Open Branding in the top bar.
  2. Under Background image, choose a photo of your office or team. It can be a PNG, JPEG or WebP file.
  3. Press Upload background.
  4. Under Blur, pick Off, Light or Strong to soften the photo so the widgets stay easy to read, then press Save.

To go back to the template's moving colours, press Remove background.

7. Show the dashboard on a screen

A dashboard only appears on a TV once the TV is paired. Open Pair a TV, enter the code from the TV and pick this dashboard. The page Screens lists all paired TVs. The full steps are in Pair a TV.
