Billing and plans

Your plan and your subscription are under Settings (the gear in the top bar) > Billing, at Billing. Only the account holder sees that section. If you are a member, ask the account holder to change the plan for you.

1. The free trial

Every new account starts with a free trial of 14 days, on the plan picked at sign-up (Team when none was picked). During the trial you can use everything that plan includes. Under Status the Billing page shows how many days are left, for example "Trial, 9 days left".

You can subscribe at any moment during the trial. The days you have left carry over: the first payment is due when the trial ends, not when you subscribe.

2. The plans and their limits

OfficeDash has three plans:

  • Starter: 1 TV, 1 dashboard and 1 location. A dashboard holds at most 3 slides and uses only the simple layouts. No custom colours, no logo or background image of your own, and no invited users.
  • Team: up to 5 TVs and 5 dashboards, 1 location. Every layout, custom colours, your own logo and background image, and invited users.
  • Business: unlimited TVs, dashboards and locations. Everything in Team, plus custom roles for members and no OfficeDash logo on the TV.

On every plan a dashboard holds up to 20 slides. At the top of the Billing page, Current plan names your plan and Usage shows how much of its limits you use, for example "3 of 5 TVs". Below that, a table compares what each plan includes, with your plan marked. For the prices, see Pricing.

3. Subscribe and change plans

  1. Open Billing.
  2. Press Subscribe on the plan you want. Stripe's checkout page opens, where you enter your payment details.
  3. After paying, you come back to the Billing page. Your subscription shows there within a moment.

On the Starter plan without a subscription, the page also has an Upgrade to Team button, which starts the same checkout for the Team plan.

Once you are subscribed, the Subscribe buttons make way for Manage billing. It opens Stripe's billing portal, where you switch to another plan, update your payment method or cancel the subscription.

Switching to a smaller plan deletes nothing. TVs, dashboards, slides and images over the new plan's limits stay as they are; you just can't add more until you are under the limit again.

4. Invoices

Your invoices are in Stripe's billing portal. Press Manage billing on the Billing page and open them there. The button shows once you have subscribed; during a trial without a subscription there are no invoices yet.

5. When a trial or subscription ends

When a trial ends without a subscription, or a canceled subscription runs out, the account becomes read-only. You can still sign in and look around, but you can't change anything. Nothing is deleted. The Status on the Billing page then says Trial ended or that the subscription has ended, and every page in the app shows a banner, Your trial has ended or Your subscription has ended, with a Go to Billing link.

A failed payment is different. The status shows Payment failed and the banner Your last payment failed, but everything keeps working while Stripe retries the payment. Update your payment method through Manage billing to keep your subscription.

Paired TVs keep showing their dashboards for 7 days after the account becomes read-only. After that they show "This screen is paused" until the account subscribes again.

Subscribing again from the Billing page unlocks everything at once: the app accepts changes again and paused TVs show their dashboards again.
