Integrations

An integration links OfficeDash to a tool your company already uses, such as HoorayHR, Simplicate, Shiftbase, Teamleader, Slack or your calendars. Once it is connected, your screens can show its data: birthdays and absences from your HR application, today's schedule, the latest deals or your agenda. You manage all of them on Integrations.

1. The integration store and its categories

  1. Open Integrations and press Add integration. Only the account holder, and members who are allowed to add integrations, see this button.
  2. Choose All, or a category to see only those tools: HR, Planning, Sales, Calendar or News & content.
  3. To find a tool quickly, type part of its name or description in the search field.
  4. Open an integration to read what it does. Under Widgets it adds you see the widgets it brings to your screens.
  5. Press Add (for a tool without a login, such as News & facts) or Connect (for a tool that needs a key or an account). For an integration you already added, the button says Manage.

An integration you added gets its own card on Integrations, where you connect and manage it. As long as you have not added any, the page says No integrations yet with a Browse integrations button that opens the store.

2. Connecting and disconnecting

Each card shows its status: Connected, Not connected or Reconnect needed. There are two ways to connect, depending on the tool:

  • Sign in with the tool's account: press the connect button on the card, for example "Connect with HoorayHR", sign in to the tool and approve read-only access. You return to OfficeDash when it is done. HoorayHR, Teamleader and Slack work this way.
  • Paste an API key: an administrator of the tool creates a key there, and you paste it into the card. The card says where to find the key. HoorayHR, Simplicate and Shiftbase work this way.

When the tool no longer accepts the connection, for example because the key was revoked, the card shows Reconnect needed. Connect again to show your data on the screens again.

To stop using an integration, press Disconnect on its card. To switch to another key or another account, disconnect first, then connect again with the new one.

Two integrations work a little differently:

  • News & facts has nothing to connect. Switch it on and choose a Source.
  • Calendars takes one or more calendars: paste an iCal address and press Add calendar, or connect a Google or Microsoft account and choose the calendars to show.

3. How your keys and accounts are kept

  • OfficeDash stores every key and account connection encrypted.
  • A key is never shown again after you save it. The card's Key row shows only its last four characters, for example pk_…a1b2, so you can tell which key is in use.
  • Calendar addresses are stored encrypted too. The card shows only the host of each address, never the full address.
  • OfficeDash only reads data from your tools. It never changes anything in them.

If you are unsure whether a key is still safe, delete it in the tool, then disconnect and connect again with a new key.

4. Widgets that need an integration

Some widgets show data from a tool, so they work only once that integration is connected. In the slide editor, press Add a widget on a slot to open the widget store. Widgets that need an integration sit under that integration's section. Until it is connected, the section shows a link such as "Connect HoorayHR to add 3 widgets" instead of the widgets. The link takes you to Integrations, where you connect it.

Once you connect the integration, its widgets can be added like any other. Which widgets there are, and the tile sizes they fit, is explained in Widgets and tile sizes.
